More unusual orphans....

and this time from Carolyn of Lakeside Quilting(see sidebar). She created this beautiful quilt top while recovering from a recent surgery. In her own words, here's how she did it : "I did something that I guess could be considered an orphan quilt. :o) A few years ago I joined the Keepsake Quilting Club and received two boxes of die cut squares...samples of all the fabric that I could order from them. Even though they weren't quite square, I decided to make the best of it and sew them all together, totally randomly. I made them into four patches, then sewed them all together...that's 576 little squares there. I'm trying to decide on borders...I'm thinking they'll need to be pretty plain as the center screams for attention."
That was what I had cut and pasted to 'save' after I saw the first picture of just the squares. Carolyn graciously jumped back in and added the borders so we have a completed top here. She will machine quilt it(she's a wonderfully talented longarm quilter *VBS*) and then donate it to an organization of her choice..*S* Unless a daughter claims it, like last time...great job Carolyn!!!

lovely charm quilt and what an easy way to work - just sew blocks together regardless of size!

576 squares - but who's counting. Something great from nothing. What can be better than that?

This one is a real beauty. I love these extra-scrappy quilts.
