It pleases me that for now I can post a picture a day of some new approach to working with these leftover(or created) blocks.
I love what Jeanne has done with this one, and it certainly could be considered a "Plain Jane". It's utility piecing at it's best...no glitz, no glamour. But look how great those bits of bright yellow(& gold) ignite the colors. It can't be just a comfortable blue and white quilt...the daffodils and dandy-lions are breaking through, saying 'notice me!'.
It looks to be a twin size, altho Jeanne didn't say, nor did she give me it's story.....BUT.....other exciting news! Jeanne has cut short her time away from blogland, and is digging in her 'barrels' of stuff and finding old blocks and a couple of almost finished tops that can go to the WTIL quilts project! Way to go Jeanne! So glad to have you back playing with us again!!, I'll add you to the list at the bottom of the page....LOL
Post-a-note: Jeanne commented that this quilt was made in the 1990's and donated to a homeless shelter. She and I are both sure it is well loved by someone. And that it's different from other orphans we've seen, so far, because she did it in strips. You can see that when you look at it...*VBS* We're going to get better at figuring out how these quilts are assembled.

This one is certainly a not-very-attractive quilt: a utility orphan scrappy whatchamacallit!! I made it quite some time ago when I was in a guild that made quilts for a local homeless shelter. Maybe it's keeping someone cozy these days ...
Anyway I thought it was interesting to share here on the Orphan Train because I did it in strips rather than in an allover mosaic of blocks.
Jeanne -- who's in a summer slump, but is puttering and finding ways to keep occupied :)
I certainly think this is a cheerful quilt! and it doesn't seem like leftovers to me either...nice way to put them together-doing it in strips.
I think Jeanne's blue creation is beautiful! I've made lots of orphan quilts over the years and will pull out what I have on hand now and join your challenge!
