Pass it along.....

A sort of 'news flash' for today's post. If you have read the last couple of posts you know that the orphan train book is making the 'rounds' in blogland. As I said, I received it(to read) from Carol E. She has received it(to read)from Tracey in Conn.
I sent it along to Michele, and Michele has sent it along to Jeanne.
In the post before last, Marcie of Patchalot More expressed a desire to receive it.But...I'm not sure Jeanne would be back this way to read that comment. So here is what I'd like to "PASS ALONG". If you have a desire to read the book(depending on where it needs to be mailed) PLEASE email or visit the current readers blog. Let her know of your interest, and she can let YOU know where the book is bound for next.
NO ONE is actually 'in charge' of all of this....we are each just doing it for the sake of ALL of us orphan train. Since I post that particular day, Carol E. has expressed a desire that she would love to have it back when it's done traveling. Please respect that desire, when the book has finished it journey. Like the "travel bugs" that are out 'in the world' via geo-caching, our book could be very well traveled. So far each person has added their name and location and blog title. I didn't think to add a date when I signed it, but I do remember it arrived here on the Saturday before my birthday...that would have been October 5th. Maybe Jeanne or whoever could add that date by my name. We'll see is Carol remembers when she got it...LOL,and you too Tracey in Conn.** Photo from Orphan Train History archives via Google **
(Blogger is NOT playing nicely with my linking to Jeanne...so I'll try it here instead. Jeanne

Finn,

I know when I got the book! :-)
I bought it at Charlotte's Web of Quilting (I think that's the name of the shop) in Stillwater MN on August 11, 2007 while I was shop hopping.

Maybe whoever had the book now could add that to the signature page (I never thought to write my name in the book before I sent it on to Carol).

Well, that little Orphan Train chugged out of my Depot this week, heading south to Jeanne. But, it already had 2 more Oregon gals waiting at their stations and maybe 2 more, depending on their scheduled reading stops. But Marcie, there's no way that train won't be heading for you after its Oregon scheduling is done. We'll pass the word through smoke signals along its journey...one way or another. It's kind of fun making friends as we ride the rails together. Finn's been one heck of an engineer, with Miss Ebby conducting things right along, of course!

Wow what a wonderful idea and adventure. This book is going to see more than most people do in their lifetime of the States and possibly the world. Well done ladies. Hugs Khris in Oz

It's a lovely idea! Does the book just give the history of the Orphan Train or does it show quilts too? How does one become a volunteer? I just found your blog and love it.
